Easter Saturday Blow

Easter Saturday saw the duty team deal admirably with the strong NE wind and substantial swell. PB1 recovered Charlie's disabled Sprint 15 taking on water from a damaged transom which had lost the use of a rudder as a result. Well done to the PB crew; Jonny B and Derek D. for their tenacity in dealing with the recovery. The decision to prepare PB2 was proved right as this was launched to cover the race as the SP15 recovery tied PB1 up for fifty minutes or so. Thanks to Rob and Caroline for volunteering to man PB2 at short notice

The racing was restricted to two 30 minute back to back contests as the cold NE wind had hypothermia in all our minds. Mark H took both first positions from John H and Ian despite their valiant efforts in the fast fleet. Joe retired in the first race with mainsail problems whilst Mark DW and David Adams had a great uncontested sail in the Mirror. The wind freshened through the session making sailing a truly strenuous effort and the 15's could be seen 'sand sailing' up the beach to avoid being trashed in the surf.

Paul S was jubilant that he managed his first dry capsize and recovery.

Thanks goes again to Jane B, Steve, Joan and Judy for great shore-side support.
